Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and the former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, met at a conference to push for South East presidency on Monday.

Naija News reports that both leaders were part of the presidential hopefuls of Igbo extraction at the meeting organised by an Igbo think-tank, Nzuko Umunna, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Governor Umahi and Anyim were both seen exchanging plesantries despite their political indifference at the conference which was about the 2023 South East presidency.

Both leaders have been at loggerheads over the security challenges in Ebonyi, with the governor accusing the former Senate President and ex-governor of the state, Sam Egwu of being behind the insecurity in the state.

Umahi also threatened to arrest Anyim, Egwu and some prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for inciting violence in the state.

He also accused the PDP leaders of seeking to bring down his administration because of his decision to ditch the opposition party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Other presidential hopefuls present include Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; Senator representing Imo West and former Imo governor, Rochas Okorocha and former governor of Anambra, Peter Obi.

Also present were Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo; former chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh; and former Governor of Enugu and chairman of the Greater Nigeria Group, Okwesiliezie Nwodo.
