The governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has pardoned the civil servant who was suspended for peddling a death rumor about him.

Akeredolu directed the Head of Service, HoS, Pastor Niran Adeyemo to recall the worker back to work.

Recall that Naija News had earlier reported that the worker was suspected for spreading a rumor via Facebook that the governor who was on vacation had died.

While breaking the Ramadan fast, Iftar, with Muslims, Akeredolu prayed for mercy for those in the habit of spreading fake news.

The Governor said “father forgive them for they know not what they were doing”.

Akeredolu, who was making his first appearance after his vacation condemned the high rate of false news. He urged newsmen to fact check stories before publishing them.

He also advised civil servants against spreading false news adding that they should channel their energy towards spreading good and productive news.
