Rainfall: Electric Poles, Houses Destroyed In Delta Community

Some residents of Delta State have been rendered homeless following a heavy downpour on Sunday morning.

Naija News understands that the Oviorie-Ovu in Ethiope-East Local Government Area witnessed an early morning downpour which swept away many of their valuables.

Reports had it that several electric poles and buildings were treated down during the rainfall.

The rain is said to have started with a heavy wind at about 4 am on Sunday morning.

The development has now put the community in darkness as their power cables and poles have been damaged.

Also affected by the heavy wind were produce plantations as well as crops, Naija News understands.

Daily Post confirmed that officials of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC are yet to arrive at the scene for an assessment of the damages to the electricity infrastructure in the area as of reporting time.

Meanwhile, an uncertain number of people are still reportedly missing after the fire incident at the illegal oil refinery site at Abacheke Kpofire in Egbema community, Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Sunday revealed that 109 bodies have been recovered so far from the horrible inferno.

The fire incident which occurred on Friday night has caused unrest in the area.

The Head of Operations of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ifeanyi Nnaji, had earlier confirmed that 20 persons died in the unfortunate fire incident.

Informing the public of the latest development, Nnaji on Sunday said so far 109 bodies had been recovered while others were still missing.
