Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick for Manchester United against Norwich on Saturday had attracted a bonus of £850,000.
Naija News understands that the Portugal professional footballer netted a hat-trick for the Red Devils yesterday in their English Premier League match against Norwich.
The match played at Old Trafford ended 3-2 in favour of the Ralf Rangnick’s side.
The goal streak by Ronaldo triggered a bonus-related clause in his contract after hitting 21 goals for the season, The Sun noted in a report.
Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last year and part of his signing clause is a £750,000 bonus for reaching 20 goals plus a further £100,000 for his hat-trick strike, Naija News understands.
The deal sees the 37-year-old grab £100,000 for each further goal he scores for the remainder of this season.
United will also pay their top scorer this season £1million and the Portugal captain seems almost certain to be the beneficiary, as he is 12 goals ahead of his closest challenger Bruno Fernandes.
Also, Ronaldo would receive around £2.75million in total payments if he manages to reach 30 goals this season.
Manchester United will be at Anfield on Tuesday this week to battle three points from Liverpool in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, after five years at Manchester United, Serbian, Nemanja Matic has said he is exiting the club by the end of the ongoing campaign.
Naija News recalls that Matic joined the Red Devils from Chelsea on July 31, 2017.
He made his debut for United on August 8, 2017, against Real Madrid.
However, the 33-year-old unsung Man United hero has struggled to fit in the squad for Interim manager, Ralf Rangnick this season.
Naija News understands that the former Blues has just a year left on his deal with United but the player has informed the club of his intention to move on this summer.
Making his intention known in a post on Instagram, Matic wrote: “After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision.
“It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support.
“I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible.”
