What Tony Okocha Said As Magnus Abe Returns To APC In Rivers State

Senator Magnus Abe has stated that it is within the rights of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to contest the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News reports that he stated this following Osinbajo’s declaration to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari when his tenure expires in May 29, 2023.

Speaking on Arise Tv on Tuesday, the former Rivers South-East Senator, a loyalist of Bola Tinubu, rejected reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was planning to produce its presidential candidate through consensus.

He stated that the constitution of the APC did not make provisions for the emergence of candidates through consensus.

Magnus Abe said Osinbajo’s ambition pose no threat to Bola Tinubu, as all aspirants would contest for the party’s ticket during the primaries.

He said: “Osinbajo is a formidable member of the party and he is welcome to the race to contest if he so desires.

“The constitution of the All Progressives Congress does not provide for any consensus.

“There will be a contest and anybody who knows Asiwaju, knows that he is working on a pathway that will lead him to victory in a contest”.
