Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has reacted to his side’s Sunday match draw against Liverpool at the Etihad stadium.

Naija News reports that the two clubs, yesterday proved why they are both deserving of the ongoing English Premier League season title.

Liverpool had in their premier league clash on October 3, 2021, held Man City to a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

The two title rivals met again at the Etihad Stadium yesterday and the result ended again in a tie, with two goals apiece.

In his post-match interview, Guardiola told reporters that his Liverpool counterpart, Jurgen Klopp, is not his friend.

The Spaniard though admitted that he admires the German professional coach, who he claims has made him a better manager.

Meanwhile, both sides will meet again in the FA Cup semi-final next weekend, Naija News reports.

Speaking after Sunday’s clash, the City boss said: “I don’t know if Jurgen respects me but Jurgen has to know I respect him a lot. He has made me a better manager.

“His team is always there, they are always aggressive.”

“We are not friends, we never see each other, I have his number but I don’t call him.

“I have respect for him, but he knows next Saturday [in the FA Cup semi-final] I am going to try and beat him,” Guardiola said.

Naija News reports that Premier League title rivalries have often been hostile affairs.

It is, however, a different case with Manchester City and Liverpool as much respect is seen between the two sides, though less from fans.
