Some yet to be identified gunmen have reportedly killed a chairman of the Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Abuja, Naija News reports.

The sad development was confirmed to newsmen on Sunday by the Secretary of the herders’ union, Mohammed Usman.

Usman told the Nation that Adamu Aliyu who chairs the Gwagwalada Area Council chapter of the union was murdered on Thursday by the unknown assailants.

The MACBAN secretary further explained that Aliyu was killed alongside four others near Daku village in Dobi ward of the council.

Reports revealed that three persons were abducted during the raid while three others who sustained gunshot wounds are receiving treatment at the University of Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada.

When contacted, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh said she was not aware of the incident as of the time of filing this report.

This is coming two weeks after MACBAN declared that it is ready to cooperate with the government to tackle the ongoing insecurity challenges in the country.

The herders union acknowledged that kidnappers, bandits, and cattle rustlers have put the nation in a bad state and there is a need to take decisive actions to stop the perpetrators.

MACBAN in a statement issued in Abuja noted that it has developed a strategy to curb the menace so that pastoralists can resume their activities and locals can regain their territories which had been occupied by the deadly groups, Naija News reports.
