Armed Robbers Invade Yinka Ayefele’s Radio Station In Ibadan

A popular radio station in Ibadan, Fresh FM 105.9, was attacked by three armed robbers on Sunday during a live transmission.

Naija News understands that the radio station, owned by renowned gospel artiste, Yinka Ayefele, had to go off air for a while following the robbery attack.

It was gathered that the robbers who were fully armed stormed the station around 6:30 am while a gospel programme was on.

According to a staff of the radio station, the armed men could not gain entrance into the studio where the live programme was being aired.

He said the gunmen gained access to the station through the front door after they had restrained the security aides on duty.

It was learned that the gunmen took all mobile telephones and laptops computers belonging to the staff and also took away laptops and desktop computers belonging to the station.

He, however, disclosed that the gunmen also took one of the computers containing files for a planned television station that also belongs to Ayefele.

A staff of the radio station told TheCable: “Three armed robbers came just after 6am while the gospel tune programme hosted by Agboola Babatunmise was on.

“They gained entry through the front door. They were fully armed. They took all our mobile telephones and laptops computers. They also took away laptops and desktop computers belonging to the station.

“Although they could not gain entrance into the studio where the live programme was being aired, we were all shocked and had to go off air for some time while the robbers were around.

“There was fear that they might do us harm if we mention it immediately while they were still with us. Ayefele, the chairman has rushed to the office to ascertain the extent of the loss. Thank God no life was lost in the attack.”
