Nigerians on social media have reacted to the new bill by Umar Muda, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, moving to make cross-dressing illegal in the country.

This platform earlier reported that a member of the House of Representatives, Umar Muda presented before the chamber a bill seeking to stop cross-dressing which will affect the likes of Bobrisky and James Brown, his copycat.

Naija News understands that the bill passed its first reading on the floor of the House on Tuesday.

With this proposed law, crossdressers now risk 6 months in prison if passed.

The bill proposes to alter the 2013 Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act by inserting cross-dressing as one of the act’s offenses.

Remember that if convicted, same-sex couples and LGBT people risk 14 years in prison.

A person engaging in cross-dressing is guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment of 6 months or to a fine of five hundred thousand naira.”

A few Nigerians have taken to social media to weigh in on the issue.

“Is cross-dressing Nigeria’s problem right now?

“Is it more important than the dwindling economy, insecurity rocking the country, exploitation by all these service providers like multichoice and Co, and so on?

“I wonder how the country will improve with these crop of politicians.”

One Fairmedia wrote; “Arrest bobrisky, he is leading the kids astray. It’s a shame how Bobrisky flaunts decadence and depravity on our collective faces, debasing the minds of our children. We need people with solutions, we need people with ideas to develop the country, we can not allow impoverished, and deceased people like Bobrisky destroy the minds of our kids and get them twisted.”
