Buy Weapons To Defend Yourselves - Gov Ortom Tells Benue Residents Again

The details of the meeting of the zoning committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have emerged.

Naija News reported that the 37-member committee inaugurated on March 24 had been charged to conclude the party’s zoning of the party’s 2023 presidential ticket.

Members of the committee include Governors Darius Ishaku of Taraba State and Ifeanyi Ugwunanyi of Enugu State, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, former Governors, lawmakers and other party stalwarts.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, the Chairman of the zoning committee and Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, said the panel unanimously adopted a position on the zoning of the party’s presidential ticket.

Governor Ortom said the committee report will be submitted to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

He said: “We have just finished our meeting after we rose from our meeting last week.

“Today, we decided that we would meet and by the grace of God, we have unanimously adopted a position that will be sent to the NEC of our party that appointed us.

“The good news for our teeming supporters of the PDP and Nigerians is that we have resolved and everyone of us — the 37 members — unanimously adopted the position that we are going to present to NEC.”

Naija News had reported that the PDP has reportedly thrown its presidential ticket for the 2023 election open.

It was gathered that the committee affirmed that even though zoning is part of the party’s constitution, it decided to throw open the presidential contest due to the exigency of the time and the fact that they are in opposition.

The committee was also said to have commended the contestants who have chosen to unite themselves and work for a consensus candidate.
