Police Apprehend ‘Pregnant’ Woman, Man Who Steals Tricycle

The Rivers State Police Command have arrested a pregnant woman alongside a man who specialize in dispossessing unsuspecting drivers of their tricycles.

The suspects were identified as Steve Green and one Adaugo Darlington who usually pretends to be pregnant so as to attract sympathy from people.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Grace stated that the suspects often posed as passengers, attack the drivers with knives, machete and push them from the vehicle while still in motion thereby escaping with the tricycle.

However, the duo met their waterloo on Thursday, March 31 along Rumunduru Eneka in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, when police of Eneka Division while on patrol encountered their latest victim, one Lasisi Akeem.

The victim who had machete cuts described his tricycle and the suspects to the police.

The police subsequently swung into action and were able to apprehend the suspects and recover the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a commercial motocyclist has reportedly murdered a man after a fight broke out between both of them in Lagos.

The incident occurred at Abesan Estate in the Baruwa/Gate area of Ipaja on Monday morning, April 4.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said the suspect had been arrested while investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the clash. Read more
