Islamic School Teacher Who Raped 13 Students Leaving Eight Pregnant, Sentenced To Death

An Indonesian teacher, identified as Wirawan has shocked many after his case came to  spotlight and there was a  need to protect children from s3xual violence in the country’s religious boarding schools.

Wirawan was firstly sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in the city of Bandung in February, prosecutors who had called for the death penalty filed an appeal.

The judge in a statement on Monday posted on the Bandung High Court’s website said “(we) hereby punish the defendant with the de*th penalty.’’

Between 2016 and 2021, Wirawan sexually groomed 13 girls, who were between 12 and 16 years old, and impregnated eight of his victims, a judge said in February.

Indonesia, the world’s biggest Muslim majority country, has thousands of Islamic boarding schools and other religious schools that often provided the only way for the children of poorer families to get an education.

Meanwhile, personell of the FCT Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Wuse Zone 5 are in profound apprehension after snakes were discovered at the office premises.

The snakes were discovered when one of them attacked a worker who was installing a telecommunication device and decided to use a toilet on the premises.

He was bitten twice by the snake and rushed to the hospital. He was later moved to a traditional treatment center as requested by his family.

Some officers who spoke to Leadership Sunday said non-native” pythons seemed to have established a breeding population at the office premises.

On March 29, 2022, the command authorities employed the services of some snake charmers who captured nine snakes after about three hours.

An officer said; “Huge snakes, some up to 20 feet long or more, with telephone-pole-sized girths, have been parading the area.

“As I speak to you, we are now afraid of night duty. The March 29 incident was not an isolated case, as snakes have become regular guests at the FCT command.”
