Amaechi Denies Asking Nigerians To Contribute Money For Victims Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack (Video)

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has denied asking Nigerians to contribute money for victims of Monday’s Abuja-Kaduna train attack by bandit terrorists.

The Minister made the denial on Thursday while reacting to trending reports that he asked Nigerians to contribute money to foot the medical expenses of the victims.

According to Amaechi who also shared a video of what he said during his visit to the victims at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna on Wednesday, what he said was that the Nigerian Railway Corporation would liaise with the hospital management on how to sort the bills of those that were treated.

He disclosed that the military treated the victims without charging a dime, adding that some of the patients need drugs that are not produced in Nigeria and would be attended to by medical experts not working with the Nigerian Army.

He wrote: “We did not ask for contributions from Nigerians. I said @MinTransportNG & the FG are grateful to the Nigerian Army for providing free treatment for the injured, & that the Nigerian Railway Corporation would liaise with the hospital management to cover other expenses.”

Below is the video.

Meanwhile, former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani on Thursday raised a fresh alarm about bandit terrorists taking over the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

According to the politician and human rights activist, the information was given to him by someone who made a distress call to him after running into them.

He said due to the blockage caused by the bandits, many travellers are turning back speedily to avoid falling victim of the criminal elements.

He identified the major bandits operating in the north as Bello Turji, Dogo Gide, Manjagara, and Balleri, wondering why they still roam freely, grant interviews on radio and the security agencies have not arrested them.

He accused the security agencies and agents of only carrying out ‘eye-service’ operations.
