Mother Kills Her Three-day-old Baby Because Of Married Lover

A 20-year old woman, Amina Umar who killed her 3-day-old baby with pesticide because of her married lover has been remanded in prison custody in Adamawa.

Umar gave birth to the baby on March 14 and on the 17th she gave the child pesticide to drink which led to his death.

During preliminary investigation, she revealed that she murdered her child because she was not certain her married lover Buba Musa would be able to take care of the child.

On Monday, March 28 the suspect was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, where she pleaded guilty to culpable homicide.

She was arraigned before the court by ASP Precious Stephen and admitted to killing the boy after the First Information Report tendered by the prosecution was read to her.

The chief Magistrate Abdullahi Mohammed Digil ordered that she be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to 5th of May 2022.

He also ordered the prosecution to duplicate the case file and send same to the DPP Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
