With the 2023 general election in view, the All Progressive Congress (APC) is understood to have zoned its ticket to the South, baring any last-minute change.

The likes of former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were seen exchanging pleasantry at the party’s convention on Sunday, Naija News reports.

Though Osinbajo is yet to make a public declaration of his interest in joining the presidential race, the Nigerian second citizen has been tipped to succeed his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu on the other hand who is the National Leader of the ruling party has since made his ambition known even to President Buhari.

Should Osinbajo within the next few days make known he will be joining the race, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria will have to battle Tinubu under whom he served as a commissioner.

Naija News reports that all political parties have until June 3, 2022, to present their flag bearers to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At the convention still bubbling with mixed reactions over decisions taken by stakeholders, Tinubu and Osinbajo ‘rubbed shoulders’ in cheers and all seems to be well between the duo despite potential rivalry ahead of the 2023 elections.

With them at the Eagle Square for the convention was Chief Bisi Akande, former interim Chairman of the APC.

Other presidential hopefuls were also sighted having good rapport, but pundits have rated Tinubu and Osinbajo among the strongest contenders.
