Nigerian Army Confirms Killing Of Soldiers During Attack In Niger State, Gives More Details

The Nigerian Army says an investigation has been opened into the behaviour of a soldier who unlocked a colonel’s office in his absence, sat on his official chair, and took selfie photographs.

The spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu made this known while debunking reports that the said soldier has been sacked for his behaviour.

According to Nwachukwu, the soldier has not been sacked but is under investigation to determine the motive for such behaviour.

Naija News gathered that the soldier in question attached to the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) got into his superior’s office, sat on his chair and took photographs without authorization or consent.

An online medium thereafter reported the soldier has been sacked.

The online medium quoted a leaked message about the dismissal from a commanding officer to soldiers as: “Private soldier dismissed from service after taking a photo in a colonel’s office. Pls personnel should be warned cause it’s getting out of hand.”

But reacting to the report, Nwachukwu denied the sacking of the soldier but confirmed the incident, adding that the soldier is currently under investigation for alleged inappropriate behaviour.

“There was an incident at NAUB, an officer travelled and a soldier got into the office, sat on the official seat and took those selfies.

“The reason for opening the office we don’t know; we are investigating him to unravel the motive behind such an act,” he told Leadership.
