PDP Supporter Dies Celebrating Council Chair’s Defection From APC

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Awwal Idris has died while celebrating the defection of a leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The defector who is said to be the council chairman of the Gwagwalada area, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, was received into the opposition party on Saturday, Naija News learnt.

Reports had it that the convoy of the chairman was on its way to Dobi Ward where he was to be formally received to the PDP by the party’s ward chairman, Abubakar Sarki when the fatal motor accident that claimed Idris’s life happened.

Three others inside the vehicle, however, cheated death as they survived but with various degrees of injuries.

They are reportedly receiving treatment at a private hospital in Gwagwalada.

Naija News learnt that the vehicle which Idris was in, veered off the road, somersaulted and landed in a ditch, killing the happy supporter on the spot.

The PDP chairman in Gwagwalada, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi, confirmed the incident through telephone to Daily Trust.

He said the deceased, a native of Leda village, where the chairman also hailed from, had been buried according to Islamic rites.
