Photos As Late Lagos GAC Member, APC Chieftain Is Laid To Rest Today




A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Tunde Samuel will be laid to rest today in Lagos State.

The late politician who was a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) had died on February 16, 2022, Naija News understands.

Samuel departed the earth at age 74 after battling an undisclosed illness. A memorable service of songs had commenced since Thursday in his honour.

Commiserating with families of the deceased, party members and professional associates, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, said Samuel had in his lifetime contributed greatly to the growth and development of Lagos, especially in relation to education.

Obasa described late Samuel as “an experienced educationist and excellent administrator who served Lagos State and the nation with so much passion and commitment”, adding that his contributions to the success of the State are worthy of emulation.

Also in attendance at the burial event are top members of the APC, former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, friends, associates, family members and a representative from the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa, where the deceased once served.

Naija News understands that Professor Samuel was before his death an International Consultant for UNESCO and UNICEF.

His remains would be interred later on Friday after a lying-in-state.

In another news, some corps members have stormed the street to protest the shooting of a corps member by a policeman at the Orita Challenge area of Ibadan on Thursday.

Naija News learnt that the corps member, whose identity is still unknown, was returning from his Community Development Service (CDS) in Oluyole Local Government Area when the incident happened.

According to an eyewitness, the corps member, who was driving a white Toyota Camry car was flagged down by the policemen who were driving an official car with the inscription ‘SRS police OYS toll-free 615,’ but he did not stop because he was unaware.

One of the corps members said a police patrol van was trailing the Toyota Camry, but the occupants of the car were not aware of this, Naija News reports.
