Security operatives attached to the Ondo state police command have apprehended a shoemaker, Sikiru Owolabi for allegedly stabbing a 48-year-old man, Bolanle Adilewa, in the Ijo Mimo area of Akure, the state capital.

The suspect reportedly stabbed the victim during an argument on Tuesday, March 15.

The suspect who claimed that he attacked the suspect out of self defense explained that he rented a shop in the deceased father’s house.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami confirming the incident said the murder suspect was already in custody and matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

According to the police spokesperson: “The suspect is in our custody. He said he acted in self-defence when the deceased took an object to attack him while they were fighting. We have transferred the case to the SCID for further investigation.”

Meanwhile, a group of unknown gunmen have abducted the Divisional Crime Officer of the Dawaki Police Division on Thursday during an attack on the station located in the suburb bordering Gwarimpa in Abuja.

Naija News learnt that the DCO whose identity is yet to be ascertained was subsequently released by the hoodlums who invaded the division. Read more
