I Didn't Operate Killer Squad, Never Received Money From Hushpuppi - Kyari

The former head of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari marks his 47th birthday today (Thursday).

The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police is currently in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

A check on the Facebook account of the embattled police officer shows that he was born on “March 17, 1975.”

Kyari was admitted into the Police Academy Wudil, Kano State, in 2000 and graduated as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The police officer thereafter was posted to Adamawa State Police Command for his one-year mandatory attachment and served at the Song Police Division.

Kyari was described as a super cop due to his effort in tracking down criminals across the country with the support of IRT.

Things however went south after he was linked to a fraudulent transaction involving internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

While the force was still investigating the allegation levelled against Kyari, NDLEA accused him of being involved in a 25kg cocaine deal.

The NDLEA filed an eight-count charge bordering on drug trafficking against him and others, including ACP Sunday Ubia, ASP Bawa James, Insp. Simon Agirigba and Insp. John Nuhu, who are IRT members.

Kyari is still been held in the detention of the agency after being denied bail.
