Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has expressed confidence in emerging the next national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had reportedly backed the Senator representing Nasarawa West in the National Assembly for the chairmanship position.

Addressing members APC Caucus of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, Adamu stated that he has the experience and leadership qualities to lead the party in a new direction.

According to Adamu, he has the zeal and experience to address the challenges facing the APC at the moment and solve the issues.

The former governor stated that he has not lost any election since he joined politics in the 70s, adding that he has been committed to the ruling party since joining from PDP.

Adamu, who chaired the APC reconciliation committee, said he did not declare early because he had been preoccupied with the party’s assignment of reconciling aggrieved members.

He said: “From about the year 1978 to date, I have never lost an election. And it is my hope that if I get the opportunity to serve as chairman I will provide the leadership necessary for APC to continue to dominate the political space in this country.

Earlier, the House Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who welcomed Senator Adamu, described the lawmaker as an elder and a seasoned politician, who he has the political clout to lead the party.

He informed that, although other aspirants have notified the members about their visit, the Senator was the first to meet and interact with them.
