An Ogun State magistrates’ court has discharged Wariz Oladeinde, one of the teenagers arrested over the murder of Sofiat Okeowo in Abeokuta.

Recall that four teenagers were accused of killing Sofiat, cutting her head off, and burning it for money ritual.

It was gathered that the deceased was killed by her former and current boyfriends, Mustakeem Balogun and Soliu Majekodunmi.

The teenagers while speaking on the incident disclosed that Sofiat was killed for money ritual, adding that they learnt it on Facebook.

Two others that were arrested over the death of Sofiat include, Oladeinde and Abdulgafar Lukman.

The Magistrate Court on Monday discharged Oladeinde, who was earlier remanded at the Oba correctional centre in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government.

The Chief Magistrate I.O Abudu, in his ruling noted that Oladeinde was discharged on the legal advice of the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

According to Abudu, “no charge was recorded against Oladeinde in the legal advice.”

Abudu further stated that he ruled based on a police investigation, which he said proved his innocence in the crime.

He adjourned the case till April 22 for further hearing of the charges against the remaining three boys.
