The former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, and his co-defendant, Sunday Ubia on Monday pleaded with the Federal High Court, Abuja to grant them bail.

The deputy commissioner of police and Ubia through their lawyer, Mahmud Magaji, told Justice Emeka Nwite that their offences are bailable.

He further stated that the constitution gave the court the discretionary power to grant his clients bail.

Counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Joseph Sunday, however, opposed the bail application.

Counsel to other police officers involved in the case also urged the court to grant their clients bail.

At the time of filing this report, the judge is yet to rule on the plead before him.

Justice Nwite on Monday fixed March 28 for ruling in a bail application filed by Kyari and others.

The date was fixed after counsel to the prosecution and defence argued their applications for and against the bail plea.
