EPL: Ronaldo May Miss Man United Vs Tottenham Clash – Club Report

Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Plotting January Move

Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo may again miss another important English Premier League match for Manchester United this weekend.

The Red Devils are scheduled to play Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday, Naija News understands.

However, in a report on the players’ injury updates released on Thursday, United mentioned that Ronaldo has been struggling to regain full fitness following a hip problem.

The club noted that the striker has been working separately from the rest of the squad, hoping to get back to the pitch as soon as possible.

Naija News recalls that Ronaldo was missing in Ralf Rangnick’s squad that played Manchester City last weekend.

The Red Devils were beaten 4-1 by the rival team.

United also in the statement released on its official website, gave updates on Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane.

It read, “Raphael Varane has returned to training after contracting Covid-19 but Cristiano Ronaldo has been working separately as he looks to regain full fitness following a hip problem.

“Luke Shaw missed the Manchester City game, after also testing positive for the virus, with Alex Telles operating at left-back at the Etihad Stadium.

“There are hopes Edinson Cavani could make his first appearance since the 1-1 draw at Burnley last month. The South American striker scored in the corresponding fixture with Spurs, a 3-0 victory in late October.”

Meanwhile, the UK Government has sanctioned Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich in the latest crackdown on Russian assets in the country.

Naija News reports that the billionaire is one of seven wealthy Russian individuals who had sanctions placed on them by the government on Thursday.

Also affected by the sanctions are billionaires and allies of President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Igor Sechin and Oleg Deripaska, Andrey Kostin and Alexei Miller.

Others affected by the sanctions are Nikolai Tokarev and Dmitri Lebedev, whose business empires, wealth and connections are closely associated with the Russian president.

Following the sanctions, Abramovich will have his assets frozen and will be prohibited from carrying out any transactions with UK individuals and businesses.

The Chelsea owner will also face a travel ban and further transport sanctions.
