Bandits: 19 Security Operatives Killed In Attack On Kebbi Deputy Governor’s Convoy – Survivors

Survivors of the attack on the convoy of the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Colonel Samaila Dabai have narrated how they escaped the ugly incident.

Naija News reported earlier that a fierce gun battle between Dabai’s security team and bandit terrorists occurred along Kanya village in Danko/Wassagu local government of the State on Wednesday.

Dabai and his entourage were visiting some areas in the state to commiserate with the residents following the killing of over 60 local vigilantes by bandits when his convoy ran into a large number of the assailants.

The bandits were reportedly operating in the Kanya community when the Deputy Governor arrived.

Naija News understands that the bandits engaged the governor’s convoy in a gun battle that lasted for over two hours at Kanya village.

Narrating the ugly experience, survivors of the ambush said 19 security operatives were killed in the attack according to Daily Post.

Speaking with newsmen on the incident, a Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Abdullahi Musa said “We fell into their ambush at Kanya,”

“It was a fierce battle. I have never seen such a situation in my life. You know the deputy governor is a retired military officer and still has some military techniques. This played out during the shooting.

“We were able to take cover, along with 36 top military officers in the convoy, who also accompanied the Deputy Governor for the condolence visit,” Abdullahi added.

Another survivor of the attack who identified himself as Idris Ahmed said the Tuesday night attack was bloody.

Ahmed admitted they were lucky to be alive as the bandits showed they came out fully prepared/

“The bandits were many indeed. Holding a well-equipped military for two hours in exchange of firepower meant they were really out to fight.

“But our soldiers fought gallantry. They earned my respect. It would have been a different story if the soldiers had not stood their ground to save the situation,” Ahmed noted.
