60 Nigerians Evacuated From Ukraine Contracted COVID-19 – NCDC

Following their evacuation from Ukraine to Nigerja, sixty returnees have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in its COVID-19 update for Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

According to the centre, 60 of the returnees tested positive for the dreaded virus on Monday, March 7 following a test conducted.

The agency added that the returnees were part of the 68 cases reported for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Tuesday while the country recorded 118 cases of COVID-19 infections.

NCDC said: “68 cases reported for FCT for 7th March 2022; 60 of the cases are returnees from Ukraine.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Government said it is necessary to now begin the demarcation of the boundaries between the Federal Capital Territory and four neighbouring States.

Naija News reports that the government disclosed its intention on Tuesday in a statement by the Director-General, National Boundary Commission (NBC), Mr Adamu Adaji.

Adaji while addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, noted that the intended demarcation is not aimed at creating barriers or made to cause division of families and properties, ‘it is just for administrative convenience,” he said.

Naija News understands that the FCT is bordered by Niger, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Kogi and there are uncertainties about their boundaries.
