In a recent development, unknown gunmen recently attacked a filling station in Anambra killing at least two persons and leaving many others injured.

According to the reports by The Nation, the incident occurred at Nnokwa, Idemilil South local government area, during the weekend.

The filling station close to the St Mary’s Catholic Church, Nnokwa, was said to have disregarded the sit-at-home order, selling diesel every Monday to residents in the area.

The gunmen had reportedly  stormed in, shooting the manager of the station and his friend dead while many others who scampered for safety during the shootout were wounded.

Though no reason was given for the attack, an eyewitness said the victims went to buy food before they were killed.

The source said: “Tears flowed freely at Nnokwa as both men were gunned down by gunmen.

“The manager of the filling station always sold diesel during the sit-at-home every Monday,” the eyewitness stated.

Some senior police officers confirmed the incident, adding that some hoodlums want to hold Anambra hostage.

The police officers added, ”we will not allow miscreants to take over anywhere.”
