Ukraine Vs Russia: ‘Americans Will Not Pay’ – US

Daleep Singh, President Joe Biden’s deputy national security advisor for international economics has said that the US strategy in the ongoing crisis in Ukraine is to undermine Russia’s role as a main energy provider.

He stated further that the sanctions by the US was putting the pain to President Vladimir Putin and making sure Americans don’t pay.”

Countries in the west have hit Russia with different sanctions in a bid to cripple it’s economy.

As the war proceeds there are speculations that the financial impact will be felt by the US especially in higher gas price.

However, Singh told CNN that the goal is not to reduce global energy supplies which would lead to increased prices at the pump for Americans, and pad Putin’s profits.”

Instead, he said that the plan is in “degrading and downgrading Russia’s status as a leading energy supplier.”

He maintained that Joe Biden’s administration aimed to cut U.S consumption of Russian oil while maintaining global energy supplies, adding “That’s really our goal.”
