Nigerians React As FG Begins Abba Kyari’s Extradition To US
The decision of the Federal Government to begin the process of extraditing the former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, to the United States has stirred reactions online.
Naija News earlier reported that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami on Wednesday, filed an application before the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kyari’s extradition.
According to Malami, the application was filed before the court following a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.
Malami in the affidavit filed in support of the extradition application noted that he is satisfied that provision is made by the laws of the U.S. such that so long as Kyari has not had a reasonable opportunity of returning to Nigeria, he will not be detained or tried for any offence committed before his surrender other than the extradition offence which can be proved by the fact on which his surrender is sought.
He further stated that he is satisfied that the charges levelled against Kyari are not political nor is it trivial.
The AGF also expressed satisfaction that the request for Kyari’s extradition was not made to persecute or punish him on account of his race, religion, nationality or political opinions but in good faith and in the interest of justice.
Reacting to the development, Nigerians took to social media to commend the federal government for beginning the process of extraditing Kyari to the United States.
While others lambasted Malami and the government for taking too long to begin the extradition of the embattled police officer to the US.

FG has approved the request by the United States of America, for Abba Kyari, to be extradited over the $1.1million wire fraud perpetrated by Abass Ramon aka Hushpuppi and 4 others.

Malami has finally granted the request to extradite Abba Kyari to the U.S over Hushpuppi’s fraud case. Abba Kyari must have offended the gods in Nigeria, Pontius Pilates finally washed their hands off his case.

If not for the involvement of Hushpuppi and the level of crime and attrocities he had committed, I'm so sure Nigeria government will never agree to extradit Abba Kyari to the US, just relax and watch how a lot of influential people will be exposed in these coming days

I’m not gonna believe this news that FG approved the request by the USA 🇺🇸 for Abba Kyari to be extradited over the wire fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi until I see it happen.
