Former Bayelsa Lawmaker, Ben Bruce

Nigerian businessman and politician, Ben Murray-Bruce has charged politicians and owners of private jets in the country to assist citizens in Ukraine.

The former Bayelsa State lawmaker noted that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has left citizens of Nigeria in a dilemma and hence the wealthy class should use their private jets to evacuate them.

Naija News understands that Bruce also urged those contesting for top political positions in the 2023 elections to search their conscience and use their jets to rescue Nigerians rather than carry their girlfriends to vacations.

This crisis in Ukraine has lingered with Nigerian citizens unable to find a solution,” the former lawmaker said in a social media post.

I have a question for our billionaires and those aspiring for elective office. How many of you have fueled your private jets and sent them to neighbouring countries around Ukraine to help evacuate Nigerians’ home? None!

“But how many of you have fueled the same to carry your girlfriends to Harrods and fancy unnecessary races in Monaco? A number of you.

“Search your conscience and be a useful and genuinely charitable Nigerian for once,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden on Tuesday stated that his counterpart in Russia, Vladimir Putin will pay for invading Ukraine.

Naija News reports that Biden in a broadcast on Tuesday commended Ukrainians for standing strong to protect their country from Russian troops who invaded their territory last Thursday.

Russia despite being condemned across the world continues to attack its neighbouring country which has seen hundreds of people dead and properties destroyed.

Biden further stated that the President of Russia, Putin may gain ground on the battlefield, but he will pay a high price over the invasion.

Biden in his address said, “Let each of us if you’re able to stand, stand and send an unmistakable signal to Ukraine and the world.

“While he [Putin] may make gains on the battlefield – he will pay a continuing high price over the long run.”

The US President also threatened that the United States would take action against Russian oligarchs saying, “We are coming for your ill-begotten gains.”
