Ukraine vs Russia: Some Nigerian Citizens Refuse To Return Home- FG

The federal government has stated that some Nigerians who are trapped in Ukraine due to the Russia- Ukraine crisis have refused to return to the country.

The minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama  said this on Monday during a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, in Abuja.

He said: “We hope to start evacuation hopefully Wednesday, although some do not want to come back. We are doing everything possible to ensure that come Wednesday, we will dispatch planes for evaluation.”

He stated further that the government had made provisions available for Nigerians who were presently in neighboring countries pending their evacuation.

Gbajabiamila also promised that the House of Rep would give its support in accelerating the evacuation process.

He said: “It is the moral thing to do. Therefore, if there is anything the House can do to accelerate their (Nigerians) safe return, let us know.”
