Yemi Alade Reacts To Video Of Polish Security Threatening To Shoot Nigerians Fleeing Ukraine

Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade has condemned the discrimination of Nigerians trying to flee Ukraine at the Polish border following Russia’s invasion

Naija News reports that a viral video showing the moment security agents at the Polish border were threatening to shoot some group of African students, mostly Nigerians, trying to flee Ukraine, surfaced online sparking an outrage.

In the video, the group can be heard shouting that they are students and are not armed, as they look to convince the security agents that they only want to cross the border.

Recall, Russia invaded Ukraine, which has led to many break out of fights in major towns across the country. Thus, creating a massive humanitarian crisis as thousands of people try to flee to safety.

This publication understands that Poland is a NATO member and has been one of the most favored destinations for many fleeing African students.

Reacting to the video, Yemi Alade expressed pain at the discrimination toward African students.

She noted that this is the time to build our continent and country, to prevent incidents as this from reoccurring in the future.

“As an African i truly am pained and frustrated by this video, it is time to build our continent and our Country….. this is so sad to watch.

“Poland’s border, the Police and Army are threatening to shoot Africans, who fled Ukraine and are trying to cross to Poland.

“According to Nze who made this video they only allow Ukrainians.

“Several Africans have been stuck there under the scorching cold weather for 2 days. Several of them have returned to Lviv, Ukraine,” she wrote.
