Potter Confirms Chelsea Keeper Will Not Play Until After World Cup

Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga has reacted to the penalty loss which handed Liverpool the Carabao Cup trophy for this season on Sunday.

Kepa who didn’t start the match was brought in to replace Edouard Mendy in the final minutes of extra time as it was sure the game was heading to penalty kicks.

However, the 27-year-old Spaniard blazed his effort totally over the bar to give Liverpool the win in the keenly contested and highly-emotional game.

Speaking after the game, the keeper took to his Twitter account where he expressed disappointment and apologized to the fans but promised to keep working.

He said he is “disappointed” but will “keep working”.

“To fall and rise. Disappointed after big effort during the tournament. We keep working.

“Thanks @ChelseaFC family for your support,” Kepa tweeted.

Recall Liverpool won this season’s Carabao Cup competition.

The Reds were all out in the 2021-2022 Carabao cup final against Premier League rivals, Chelsea at Wembley.

Chelsea and Liverpool have drawn their last two meetings, most recently an entertaining 2-2 draw on January 2.

The regular football time had ended with a goalless draw as both sides could not find a breakthrough.

Naija News reports that the extra time awarded was also not enough for either Chelsea or Liverpool to win hence the need for penalty kicks.

Players from both sides dispatched their kicks with the goalkeepers left to decide the tie.

Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Kelleher scored his shot but his Chelsea counterpart, Arrizabalaga failed to deliver the Blues, blasting his shot sky-high.
