Liverpool Win Carabao Cup After Beating Chelsea On Penalties

Liverpool has won this season’s Carabao Cup competition.

The Reds were all out in the 2021-2022 Carabao cup final today against Premier League rivals, Chelsea at Wembley.

Chelsea and Liverpool have drawn their last two meetings, most recently an entertaining 2-2 draw on January 2.

The regular football time had ended with a goalless draw as both sides could not find a breakthrough.

Naija News reports that the extra time awarded was also not enough for either Chelsea or Liverpool to win hence the need for penalty kicks.

Players from both sides dispatched their kicks with the goalkeepers left to decide the tie.

Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Kelleher scored his shot but his Chelsea counterpart, Arrizabalaga failed to deliver the Blues, blasting his shot sky-high.

Mendy was substituted for Kepa Arrizabalaga in the last minutes of the extra time.

The penalty kick ended 11-10, Naija News reports.
