Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has suggested that the military invasion of Ukraine by Russia is fuelled by vested interests.

Sani in a tweet on Thursday morning suggested that the military invasion is been driven by some form of undisclosed interest and agenda by the countries involved.

The lawmaker who described the unfolding events as interesting, also went ahead to list some other countries that are occupying other territories because of some vested forms of interest.

He wrote: “Saudi is in Yemen for interest. Israel in Palestine for interest. Morocco in Saharawi for interest. Russia in Syria for interest. NATO in Syria for interest. Turkey in Syria for interest. Iran in Yemen for interest. UAE in Yemen for interest. NATO in Libya for interest. Interesting World.”

Sani’s submission follows an earlier report by Naija News that Russia is currently attacking the northern and southern borders of Ukraine through artillery fire and land invasion.

The border guard service while revealing the development on Thursday added that Ukrainian forces are returning fire.

According to the guards, the Russian forces are receiving support from Belarus, adding that an attack has been launched from Crimea, the Russian-occupied peninsula region on Ukraine’s southern flank.

The invasion is belied to be on the orders of Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Amidst the ongoing military operation and tension, Russia on Thursday morning announced that it has destroyed Ukrainian military airbases and its air defence systems.

Naija News reports that this was made known by Russia’s defence ministry.

Ukraine military also on Thursday morning stated that it has shot down five Russian fighter jets. The military also stated that a helicopter belonging to Russia was shut down too.

According to the Defence spokesperson of Ukraine, hundreds of Russian troops are likely to have been killed in the incident.
