NFF Apologises To Super Falcons Over Delay At Airport

The Super Falcons of Nigeria were denied entry into the country at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja for several hours after securing their ticket to the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) following a 1-0 away win against the Lady Elephants of Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

Naija News reports that the Falcons players and officials’ plans to continue their celebrations on their return to Nigeria were dashed after they were denied entry into Abuja upon their arrival.

According to reports, the Randy Waldrum girls were denied entry by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on issues of COVID-19 clearance.

Reports claim the airport officials refused to clear the team despite they all having tested negative at the Abidjan airport before they were allowed to leave Ivory Coast.

Multiple sources also report a player fainted at the airport while some others shed tears were before they were eventually released around 04:00 hours this morning.
