Two young boys suspected to be internet fraudsters (Yahoo Boys) have been arrested in Delta State for allegedly crushing a toddler to death, Naija News learnt.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, has though admitted that it was an accident, however, the case is under investigation he said.

Speaking on Tuesday hours after the horrible incident, Edafe said, “Yes, it was an accident; a child of one year and a few months died. The driver wanted to enter a compound after opening the gate to the compound, not knowing that the child crawled under the vehicle and he ran the child over.”

Naija News understands that the accident happened on Monday evening along the DLA Road, Asaba, Delta State.

Reacting to the sad development which has thrown the community into confusion, an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity explained that the child’s mother did not know when he crawled to the road.

The eyewitness had told The PUNCH that a Mercedes Benz involved in the incident was driven by two young boys, suspected to be Yahoo boys.

It was reported that the child was killed about 30 metres away from his mother’s PoS stand.

The car splashed the child’s brain along the road. It was a horrible sight,” the eyewitness noted.

Barely a week ago, a commissioner in the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Hashimu-Shehu Gazura died in a car accident.

The late commissioner was also a former member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who represented Gummi 2 Constituency.

Naija News reports that the former lawmaker and commissioner died in the accident which occurred on Yawuri Road in Kebbi State.

Confirming his death, the Chairman, House of Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Mansur Bungudu said Gazura will be buried on Saturday (today) according to Islamic rites.

He died as a result of a fatal motor accident on Yawuri Road in Kebbi State.

“The deceased funeral prayer is scheduled to hold at Gummi Emir’s Palace on Saturday,” Bungudu said in the statement.
