Osun: 10 Killed As Rival Cult Groups Clash

At least ten people have died in a rival cult group clash in Ilesa, Osun State.

The chaotic incident according to reports made available to newsmen on Tuesday, happened on Monday and had since left residents in fear.

Naija News learnt that the freshest casualties were recorded when a rival group launched a reprisal attack for the killing which occurred in Odogbo-Ijesa on Saturday.

One Job Akinola is said to have been killed by some persons suspected to be cultists on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election in Ward 6, Odogbo-Ijesa, Atakunmosa East Local Government Area of the state.

A source who is said to have communicated Daily Post on the recent clash revealed that the dark spots in the ancient town include, Brewery, Ifofin, Idasa, and Irojo.

While the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola could not be reached for comment, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command Public Relations Officer, Atanda Olabisi confirmed the incident but noted that law enforcement agents were on top of the situation.

Olabisi noted that calmness has been restored to the affected areas.

She assured the residents of maximum protection, urging them to go about their normal activities.

Barely a month ago, residents of Agwa clan in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State mourn in tears and fears after suspected cultists killed a retired commissioner of police.

It was gathered that the dreaded group stormed the residence of Mr Christian Kpatuma, popularly known as HIPPIES, and killed him in the early hour of the day.

Naija News understands that the cultists that killed the deceased who was also a lawyer are well known in Agwa community.

A source who anonymously disclosed the incident to Daily Post said indigenes of Agwa clan woke up on Wednesday morning to the devastating news of the gruesome murder of Barr. Christian Kpatuma.
