'I Am Not Surprised' - Edwin Clark Reacts As ECOWAS Lifts Sanctions Against Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso

Prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark has spoken on the political disagreement between Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and a former State Governor, Chief James Ibori.

Naija News understands both Okowa and Ibori are at loggerheads over who should become the next Governor of Delta State.

However, Clark has now thrown his weight behind Okowa in the race for who emerges the next Delta State Governor.

Speaking during an interview with Vanguard, the Ijaw leader said Ibori shouldn’t interfere with how the next state Governor should emerge and allow Okowa to decide who should be his successor in consultation with the people of the state.

He said: “I repeat here again that Chief James Onanefe Ibori, former governor of Delta State, has no moral justification to interfere with whatever arrangement Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa may wish to make as regards his successor and the threat to go your own way and face the consequences does not arise because Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is the elected governor of Delta State and he is only responsible to the electorate and not to an individual.”

Meanwhile, Chief Clark, on Thursday, disclosed that former President Goodluck Jonathan has not expressed his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Arise TV, Clark also warned the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu against contesting in the 2023 general election.

The elder statesman advised the former Governor of Lagos State to go and rest despite coming from the most sophisticated region of Nigeria.

Clark stated that he would prefer to vote for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to become Nigeria’s next President than support Tinubu.

He described the Vice President as an intelligent man who has the quality to rule Nigeria in 2023.
