Reactions As Police Service Commission Suspends Abba Kyari’s Men

Nigerians have commended the Police Service Commission (PSC) over the suspension of two members of the Intelligence and Response Team (IRT), Sunday Ubua and James Bawa.

Naija News earlier reported that the two members of the Abba Kyari-led team were suspended from their respective offices in a letter dated February 16, 2022, and directed to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

A statement on Thursday issued by PSC Spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said the letter was signed by a member of the commission, Hon. Justice Clara B. Ogunbiyi, on behalf of a former police chief and PSC Chairman, Musiliu Smith.

Ani said the two police officers have been suspended from their duties with effect from Monday, February 14, 2022, until the outcome of the investigation into their alleged involvement in the current cocaine seizure.

He added that PSC also asked the police chief to suspend Inspector Simon Agrigba and Inspector John Nuhu in accordance with the Powers of Delegation.

The PSC spokesman said the two police officers were working under the suspended DCP Abba Kyari in IRT of the Force Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Nigeria Police Force.

Following the suspension of the police officers, Nigerians have taken to social media to express their views on the development and the arrest of the former head of IRT, Abba Kyari.
