Obaseki's Camp Reacts As INEC Recognises Orbih's PDP Faction

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has transmitted a bill to prohibit open grazing of cattle and other livestock to the state House of Assembly.

This was after the governor had promised to send a draft copy of the bill to the state House of Assembly for legislative consideration before the end of October 2021.

But during Tuesday’s plenary, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun said the governor had sent the anti-grazing bill to the House for approval.

The Speaker disclosed that the governor forwarded 24 copies of the bill to the house on Tuesday for deliberation and passage into law.

Onobun disclosed that the bill had been slated for consideration on a later date to give room for more consultation and recommendations by lawmakers.

According to Onobun, members of the public and different stakeholders have been sending their views on the bill and will be addressed by the House.

Meanwhile,  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting was attended physically by some ministers, while others joined virtually.

Osinbajo is overseeing the meeting following President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Brussels in Belgium to attend the 6th European Union-African Union Summit.

Buhari will join European and other African leaders as well as heads of multilateral organizations at the summit scheduled for February 17 – 18, 2022, and return to the country on Saturday.

The summit aims to discuss issues surrounding economic matters, peace and security, climate change, and energy transition.
