Court Passes Judgement On Man Who Killed His Twin Daughters Over Alleged Witchcraft

A high court sitting in Akamkpa judicial division of Cross River State has sentenced a man, Mr Anyanime Festus who murdered his twin daughters on the pretext of witchcraft.

The accused had murdered his his 11-year-old twins, Mfoniso Anyanime and Emediong Anyanime, in 2017.

Honorable Justice A. A. Onyebueke convicted the defendant and sentenced him to death by hanging, Naija News reports.

Anyanime could not defend his allegations of witchcraft when cross examined.

A child rights activist, Mr James Ibor, whose Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BCRI) helped with the prosecution of the defendant stated that the case was first reported in 2017. The accused was arrested immediately after investigations by the police.

Findings confirmed that the police carried out necessary investigation and autopsies which enable the court in passing it’s judgement.

Meanwhile, a mentally deranged man suspected to be a kidnapper has jumped to his death while trying to escape an angry mob that set him ablaze.

The incident occured at Molete area of Ibadan, Oyo State, Naija News reports.

The man was reportedly seen receiving a package from unidentified persons in a private vehicle on the Molete overhead bridge on Tuesday, February 15. Read more
