There was a commotion yesterday in Wulgo town of Ngala Local Government Area of Borno state after terrorists of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) bombed the community.
Reports reaching Naija News on Tuesday revealed that the terrorists had fired five Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPGs) into the local community, thereby injuring no fewer than nine people.
The attack is said to have happened on Monday at about 1:30 pm from a location on the outskirts of the town.
The incident, Naija News understands happened just a few moments ahead of the State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum’s arrival at the town to supervise distribution.
A serving lawmaker, Hajia Zainab Gimba is said to have led some members of Borno’s state executive council to commence the distribution of relief cards to the people in the community.
The programme was reportedly ongoing when the terrorists fired the deadly and killer substances.
Of the five RPGs, two reportedly fell at Wulgo market where the people were gathered to receive the cards, while the other three fell in open places in the town.
It was reported that the victims are currently hospitalised: two of them were said to be members of the Civilian JTF.
The governor who was in Gomboru, with Kashim Shettima, his predecessor and senator representing Borno central senatorial district, nonetheless went ahead to supervise the distribution of the food and non-food items just as he did in Gomboru and Ngala.
Naija News understands that it’s the fourth time ISWAP is attacking Wulgo after it has been resettled in late 2021.
In their last attack on the town, the terrorists lost two cars and some of their members to the Multinational Joint Task Force troops of Cameroon and Nigeria.
