The Katsina State Government has placed a ban on Yan Sa Kai” vigilante group for carrying out extrajudicial killings in the Northwest state.

The government led by Governor Aminu Masari also ordered the arrest of members of the vigilante by the police and other security agencies.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the state government, Ibrahim Ahmed Katsina, the government warned that no one has the right to take the law into his hands, under whatever guise.

He stated that arrested suspects should be handed over to the Police or any other security agency for proper investigation and prosecution.

Police Go After Vigilante Group

Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command has directed all its Commanders and Divisional Police Officer (DPOs) to go after members of the vigilante in the state and “make sure they face the wrath of law.”

The Force asked members of the public to disassociate themselves with the group and cooperate with security agencies, while urging them to report any “Dansakai or Yansakai” in their vicinity.

The Command warned that it will not fold its arms while some disgruntled members of the public take laws into their hands, brazenly killing innocent citizens, destroying and looting public property without recourse to the rule of law.
