One Ayodeji Aderobaki, 22, has been arraigned before a magistrate’s court in Yaba, Lagos State, over alleged fraud.

A complainant, Tobbena Okolo had alleged in a suit that Aderobaki defrauded him to the tune of N4.7m in August last year.

Naija News understands that the 400-level student of the Department of Philosophy, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, was arraigned on three counts bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretences and stealing.

The charges read in part, “That you, Aderobaki Ayodeji, and others still at large, sometime in August 2021 on Adeyinka Okunade Street, FESTAC Town, in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony, to wit, obtaining money under false pretences and stealing, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

“That you, Aderobaki Ayodeji, and others still at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal the sum of ₦4,700,000 property of one Tobbena Newton Okolo, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The defendant has, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges, Naija News reports.

Having listened to both sides, the magistrate admitted Aderobaki to bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till March 9, 2022.

Meanwhile, a 49-year-old general overseer, Prophetess Serah Abuloye of the All Saints Development Church of Christ, Igbara-Oke, Ifedore, Ondo state has been arraigned in Ondo Magistrate court for the murder of her church member.

The suspect was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder. The clergywoman allegedly murdered and dumped the victim, 37- year-old Adefunke Aselogbon in a bush behind her church on January 6, 2022.

The prophetess reportedly committed the crime around 4.00 am along Isarun Road, Igbara-oke.

Obalasa Ajiboye, the police prosecutor stated that the offences are contrary to and punishable under Section 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
