Former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni has revealed that he is yet to join a new political party after recently duping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former Governor in a statement on Sunday debunked the viral report that he has joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and is set to pick the party’s ticket.

He said those spreading such rumours are only political mischief-makers.

Oni made this known in a statement on Sunday by the Director of Media and Publicity of Engr Segun Oni Movement, Jackson Adebayo.

The former Governor said at the moment, he has not joined any party after decamping from the PDP.

It will be recalled that Oni dumped the PDP after losing in the recently-concluded governorship primaries of the PDP held in the Ado Ekiti, the state capital which was won by Bisi Kolawole.

Though he explained that APGA had approached him to pick the party’s ticket for the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti, he explained that he declined.

“It now became laughable reading on social media that Segun Oni is leaving APGA that he has never joined before; or how can you resign from an association you never belong.

“Although, some stakeholders in Ekiti project did approach to convince Oni on reasons he should agree to contest on APGA’s platform he declined arguing that the people of Ekiti State would come up with a party they love before the close of the window.

“The people behind such concocted lies and rumours are those who were being taunted by the geometrical growing of Segun Oni popularity and the negative effects it will have on other political parties in Ekiti State.

“What they wanted to achieve with such blackmail has however backfired on them as the people of the state refused to buy into the shenanigans; as it stands today the only person that the people could trust with the governance of the state is Eng Segun Oni as evidently displays at every nooks and crannies of the state.

“We would not be bother by this kind of balderdash in the build up to the June 18 governorship poll as we are too focused than to be distracted by the writings that was rumbled primarily together to cause confusion,” he explained.
