Shehu Sani Reacts As Tinubu Meets UAE Leadership Over Visa Ban, Others

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the report that the Benin Republic has extended the detention of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, by six months.

Recall that the lead counsel to Igboho, Yomi Aliyu in a chat with Punch on Sunday disclosed that the Benin Republic extended Igboho’s detention even though no criminal charges against him and the Nigerian government made no extradition request.

Shehu Sani in reaction to the continued detention of Igboho described it as inhuman and condemnable.

The former lawmaker in a post on his Twitter account, however, distanced himself from Igboho’s agitation for the Yoruba Nation.

He wrote, “I don’t support Igboho’s separatist ideas and activities in any way, but the reported extension of his detention by six months is inhuman and condemnable.”

Igboho was arrested on July 19, 2021, in Cotonou, Benin Republic while on his way to Germany.

The Yoruba Nation agitator had fled Nigeria for Cotonou after the Department of State Services, (DSS) declared him wanted over weapons that were allegedly discovered in his Ibadan residence.
