The jubilation of the Senegalese, finally crowned after two failures in the final of the African Cup of Nations football.

Senegal has won the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition played in Cameroon.

This was after an intriguing 90 minutes and an additional extra time ended in a goalless draw as both Egypt and Senegal proved their prowess, Naija News reports.

The AFCON title, however, slipped away from Egypt’s reach after losing two opportunities in the penalty shootout.

Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Qotb Abou Gabal Ali, popularly known as Gabaski made a record for himself on Sunday night due to his outstanding performance.

The 33-year-old player saved the Pharaohs of Egypt from embarrassing defeat from the first and second half of the 90minutes full-time.

Gabaski returned to the pitch in the additional extra minutes play with even more energy to deliver the Egyptians.

Senegal, however, had the last laugh, as they defeated Egypt via a penalty shoot-out to win their first Africa Cup of Nations title.

Goalkeeper for Premier League club Chelsea, Edouard Osoque Mendy, better known as Mendy was awarded best goalkeeper of the 2021 AFCON tournament.

Mendy was incredible also throughout their games but was more deliberate with saving Senegal on Sunday night after picking out two penalty kicks.

It was all cheers for Liverpool’s forward, Sadio Mane and his team players and staff at the Olembe Stadium Yaounde, Cameroon on Sunday night.

Naija News reports that the Teranga Lions’ were terrifying during the match watched by a full Olembe stadium, including FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and many football legends.

The game had started dramatically after Senegal were awarded a penalty just minutes into the first half but was missed by Sadio Mane.

The Liverpool player, however, redeemed himself during the decisive penalty shootout, disappointing his Liverpool counterpart, Mohamed Salah who also was all out to deliver the AFCON title for Egypt.
