Former presidential aide, Okoi Obono-Obla has slammed former governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, over the purchase of Dash 8 aircraft.

Recall that Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers State had claimed that the aircraft was bought by his predecessor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for $6 million.

Speaking further, Wike said that the Cross River state government decided to buy the aircraft and paid only N100 million, demanding that the balance be paid without further delay.

He, however, disclosed that aircraft cannot be found, asking the minister to disclose the whereabouts of the property of the state government.

Reacting, Obono-Obla alleged that Senator Imoke wasted the state resources during his tenure as the Cross River governor and asked him to reveal the location of the aircraft he allegedly bought from Rivers state.

Obono-Obla called on the people to interrogate what led to the heavy indebtedness of the state and the disappearance of the aircraft.

He said:  “The previous administration profligately embarked on a spending spree and bought things that were irrelevant to the developmental aspirations and expectations of the people of the state like the Dash 8 aircraft.

“Those who were in charge of the governance and running of the affairs should explain to us how much the aircraft was purchased. What purpose was the aircraft meant for?

“In the interest of democracy, accountability, transparency and respect for the people of the state, the previous government should come clean on this.

“They should not continue to take the people for granted as if they are dumb.
