Orji Uzor Kalu Mourns As He Loses Wife

Senate Chief Whip and former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed why he is interested in succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart stated that the situation of the country informed his decision to throw his hat into the ring for the 2023 presidency.

Naija News recalls Kalu had previously denied any interest in the 2023 presidency but shortly after, changed his mind and declared his ambition.

Asked about why he had a change of mind about the presidency during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the Senator said the situation in all regions of the country forced him to declare an interest.

He said, “It was circumstance from the South-East, South-West, North-West, North-Central, and North-East that made me decide to join the race. I was governor with him (Tinubu), there is nothing difficult in challenging anybody.”

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that Kalu who described himself as a “recognised billionaire” stated that the presidential ambition of the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu is not a threat to his own presidential bid.

The former governor when asked if Tinubu is a threat, said, “No! and I am not a threat to his ambition. By the time we meet in Eagles Square, this issue will be settled.

“Mind you, politics is not only about money; it is about the people you are going to govern … the people of the north-west, the people of north-east, the people of north-central, the people of the south-east, the people of the south-west, and the people of south-south, and we have the people. I can move the people and the people are with me.”
